Jeep began production of the Wrangler in 1987 and can trace its roots back to the Jeep CJ-Series. A 2.5-liter in-line four-cylinder or a 4.0-liter in-line six-cylinder engine, both featuring multiport fuel injection, powers the 1995 Wrangler. The rubber fuel filler and vent hoses on the Wrangler can crack with age and leak gasoline, which is a hazard. Only standard hose clamps secure the hoses, making their replacement straightforward.

Instructions

    1

Park the Wrangler on a level, paved surface and set the parking brake.

    2

Remove the gas cap. Look at the back of the rear driver-side fender well directly under the filler neck. You will see a plastic panel retained by four plastic clips. Use a small flat-head screwdriver to pry out the pin in the center of each clip far enough so you can grab it. Pull back on the pin to remove the clips. There are three clips at the front of the panel and one at the rear. Remove the panel to access the fuel hoses.

    3

Loosen the hose clamps on the filler hose at the tank and neck with a flat-head screwdriver. Slide the clamps back on the hose and remove the hose from the filler neck and fuel tank by twisting and pulling on it. If you cannot get the hose off due to age it may not want to come off cut the side of the hose with a razor blade. Repeat this step for the vent hose.

    4

Slide the hose clamps onto each end of the new filler hose. Push the ends of the hose onto the tank and filler neck. Move the clamps into position and tighten them. Repeat this step for the new vent hose.

    5

Mount the panel and install the clips. Push in the pins to lock the clips. Replace the gas cap.
