The 2006 xA is a hatchback made by Toyota. The Scion brand is traditionally marketed to younger individuals, and the 2006 model continues this tradition. The xA offers drivers a 103-horsepower engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic transmission. ABS, air conditioning and power windows, door locks and mirrors come as standard equipment on the xA. With all of these creature comforts, it's important to remember basic repair and maintenance. Being an inexpensive vehicle does have its drawbacks. The small wheels on the base model and inexpensive brake rotors may warp easily on the Scion. Over time, these parts are designed to wear out anyway, so when the time comes, you'll need to know how to take off the brake rotor so you can swap it out for a new one.

Instructions

    1

Loosen the lug nuts on the Scion's front wheels. Turn them 45 degrees counterclockwise with a tire wrench, but do not unseat the wheel from the wheel hub.

    2

Place the floor jack underneath the xA and then jack up on the front jack point located just behind the radiator.

    3

Place jack stands under the pinch welds located directly underneath the driver and passenger side doors on the frame of the xA and lower the vehicle onto the jack stands.

    4

Continue to remove the lug nuts and then pull the wheel off of the Scion's hub assembly.

    5

Unbolt the upper and lower caliper mounting bolts on the brake caliper located on the brake rotor.

    6

Slide the brake caliper assembly off the brake rotor and secure it to the coil springs above the brake assembly with zip-ties.

    7

Pull the rotor off the hub assembly. There is nothing holding the brake rotor to the Scion's hub assembly now that the caliper has been removed.
