Through the 19990s and 2000s, the SUV world has gone from one of rough-and-tumble all-terrain vehicle with little more than seats and a steering wheel to more timid vehicles capable of carrying your family safely and comfortable through less-than-ideal road conditions. With its optional rear DVD player, the 2005 Tahoe adds even more emphasis to the comfort side of modern SUVs. Should this DVD player fail, theres no need to worry, as removing and installing the 2005 Tahoes rear DVD player is a snap and the kids will be back to their animated distraction in no time.

Instructions

Removal

    1

Lower the DVD players screen to its open position. Pry the bolt cover from the rearmost part of the DVD player assembly, using a flat-head screwdriver. Remove the four bolts two under the bolt cover and two inside the screens storage compartment using a ratchet and socket.

    2

Hold the DVD player assembly with one hand and pry around the DVD player assemblys perimeter, using a trim stick, to disengage it from the headliner.

    3

Pivot the rear of the DVD player downward and allow it to hang by the hook molded into its base.

    4

Notate the exact routing of the DVD players main wiring harness. Unplug the main wiring harness and remove it from the DVD player assembly.

    5

Lift the DVD player enough to take the weight off of its hook. Slide the DVD player rearward slightly to align the hook with the widthwise slot in the headliner and lower the DVD player to remove it from the headliner.

Installation

    6

Align the DVD player assemblys hook with the widthwise slot in the headliner and guide the hook through this slot. Slide the DVD player assembly toward the front of the vehicle to seat the hook in its resting position. Allow the DVD player assembly to hang by the hook.

    7

Route the main wiring harness through the DVD player assembly in the same manner it was prior to you removing it. Plug the main wiring harness into the DVD players receptacle.

    8

Pivot the rearmost part of the DVD player assembly toward the headliner and align the retaining clips with the slots in the headliner. Press the DVD player upward until the clips snap into place.

    9

Tighten the rearmost DVD player assembly bolts to 80 inch-pounds, using an inch-pound torque wrench and socket. Open the DVD players screen, if it is closed, and tighten the two front-most retaining screws to 80 inch-pounds.

    10

Align the bolt cover with its cutout in the rear of the DVD player assembly. Press the cover onto the assembly until it snaps into place.
