Scratched glass in an automobile is not only unattractive, it is dangerous. It reflects light in a way that hinders visibility for the driver. While most people believe they must replace auto glass that has a scratch, there is a method of repair that can work in many situations.
Instructions
- 1
Place the water, glycerin and jeweler's rouge in a small bowl and mix it well.
2Put some of the mixture onto the crack on the glass. Mount the felt polishing pad on the buffer.
3Begin rubbing the compound on the window. Apply pressure gently--you do not want to crack the glass.
4Allow it to dry for about 30 seconds. Wipe the area clean with a rag.
5Inspect the area where the scratch was and see if the polishing has repaired it to the same appearance of the surrounding glass. If not, repeat the process one or two more times as needed.
