The horn on the Honda Civic is an important safety feature. When sounded it alerts other vehicles to potential danger or near crashes. If you decide to install a custom horn, or just replace the old one, it can be done at home in your own garage. Replacement horns can either be ordered through your Honda dealership or local auto parts store. It takes about 20 minutes to switch out the old horn.
Instructions
- 1
Pop the Civic's hood release and prop the hood open. Remove the negative battery cable with the socket set.
2Locate the horn on the driver's side firewall, towards the rear of the engine compartment. The horn itself will be gold or silver and is round in shape.
3Use the screwdriver to remove the two terminal screws attached to the old horn, and then remove the two wires.
4Remove the retaining screws mounting the old horn to the firewall.
5Hold the new horn in place and line up the two mounting screws and start them by hand. Tighten them with the screwdriver.
6Attach each terminal wire to the terminals on the new horn, and then tighten the screws down with the screwdriver.
7Replace the Civic's negative battery cable using the socket set.
