The Frontier was introduced as a 1998 model and is still in production as of 2012. The Frontier is Nissans smallest truck, with the base models being powered by a four-cylinder engine. The plastic headlight assembly on the Frontier has a replaceable halogen bulb. Accident damage, stone chips and upgrades to aftermarket units may all be reasons to replace the entire headlight assembly on your Frontier.
Instructions
- 1
Open the hood. Loosen the clamp on the negative battery terminal with a wrench. Lift the negative battery cable off the terminal and push it to the side.
2Pull the electrical wiring connector off the back side of the headlight assembly you wish to remove from the truck. Push the wiring and connector aside.
3Remove the two retaining bolts on top of the headlight assembly with a socket and ratchet wrench. Place the bolts aside.
4Pry up on the retaining clip on the inboard side of the bottom of the headlight assembly with a flat-head screwdriver while simultaneously pushing the assembly outwards from the truck with your other hand.
5Grasp the headlight assembly with your hands. Use a gentle rocking motion while pulling the assembly straight out to slide the locating pin on the outboard side of the bottom of the headlight out of the grommet in the truck body. Remove the headlight assembly from the vehicle.
6Position a replacement headlight assembly onto the front of the truck, ensuring that the locating pin enters the grommet on truck body. Push the headlight inwards with your hands until the locating pin is fully seated in the grommet and the retaining clip snaps into place.
7Replace the two original retaining bolts on top of the headlight assembly and tighten them with the socket and ratchet wrench. Push the wiring connector into the headlight bulb on the backside of the headlight assembly until it snaps into place.
8Replace and tighten the negative battery cable onto the negative battery terminal and tighten it with wrench. Close the hood.
