The 2004 Dodge SRT-4 is a Dodge Neon with an inline-four, turbocharged engine. The engine, at 148 cc, puts out 230 base horsepower at 5,300 RPM and 250 foot-pounds of torque between 2,200 and 4,400 horsepower. The idle air control (IAC) motor is mounted on the throttle body. The IAC sends a signal to the motor to open and close the pintle, as needed, to raise or lower the RPM of the vehicle at idle.
Instructions
- 1
Disconnect the negative battery cable with the appropriate wrench. Set it aside, ensuring that it does not touch metal.
2Unplug the IAC motor's electrical connector with your fingers. Remove the mounting bolts with the appropriate socket. Remove the IAC from the engine, ensuring that the O-ring comes off with the motor.
3Check that the new motor has a new O-ring installed on it. Fit the idle air control motor into the throttle body. Install the mounting screws and tighten them to 40 inch-pounds of torque with a wrench. Plug in the electrical connector.
4Verify that the pintle on the new IAC is retracted. If the pintle is longer than 1 inch, reconnect the negative battery cable, plug the wiring harness connector into the IAC motor, plug a scan tool into the data link connector and use the open/close test to retract the pintle.
