Although fog lights are not required and are mostly cosmetic additions, they help drivers see the road better during inclement weather when visibility is poor. Fog lights are installed on the front of the vehicle, near the bottom of the bumper. When illuminated, the low-mounted beams shine lower and closer to the road, allowing the driver better visibility when fog or other weather prevents the headlights from providing adequate lighting.
Instructions
- 1
Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface and apply the parking brake.
2Loosen the bolt holding the negative cable to the battery post using a socket and ratchet.
3Lift the negative cable connector away from the battery post and wrap it in painter's tape. The tape will prevent energy from flowing to the vehicle if the connector comes into contact with the battery post.
4Remove the panel screws from the front of the fog light using a Phillips-head screwdriver.
5Pull the entire fog light assembly, which includes the lamp and lens, forward gently. Turn the assembly over to expose the electrical connector.
6Remove the wire connector by pulling it from the braided insulator. The wire connector is white. Be sure to leave the ground wire connected.
7Remove the fog light assembly by squeezing the edges of the wire clip together and lifting. Remove the wire and the bulb from the assembly. The wire holds the bulb in place.
8Plug the wire connector of the new fog light assembly into the braided insulator. Install a new bulb into the fog light assembly.
9Place the wire over the bulb and snap the clips into place. Make sure the bulb is not loose.
10Repeat Steps Four and Five in reverse to complete installation. Repeat the above steps for installation of the other fog light.
11Remove the painter's tape from the negative cable connector and reconnect it to the battery post.
