How to Know if My Anti-Sulfation Battery Charger Is Working

A lead-acid battery is the type of battery used in most automobiles. These batteries can fail over time and one of the main reasons for this is sulfation. Sulfation occurs when the lead sulfate inside the battery crystalizes due to age or lack of use. There are battery chargers specifically designed to protect your battery from sulfation, and there are ways to ensure they are working properly. If you know that the charger is working, you can extend the life of your car battery.

Check the digital display on the front of the battery charger. There should be a circular pattern visible on the display indicating that the power is on and the charger is working. If there is no pattern proceed to the next step.

Press the "On/Off" button on the charger to ensure that the charger wasn't simply turned off. If the circular pattern doesn't display even after pressing the button proceed to the next step.

Check to make sure the AC cable connected to the charger is plugged securely into a viable power outlet and press the "On/Off" button again to turn the unit on. If there is still no circular pattern continue to the next step.

Unplug the charger and make sure the red (+) and black (-) leads are secured to the terminals on top of the battery. Plug the charger back in and press the "On/Off" button. If there is still no power, the battery is likely faulty and needs to be replaced.
