How to Wire a Geely JL50QT-14

The JL50QT-14 is a small, gas-powered scooter manufactured by Geely, a China-based manufacturing company. The JL50QT-14 features a single-cylinder, air-cooled, 50 cc, 4-stroke engine. If the battery on the Geely works, but the scooter will not start, the chances are good that the ignition coil has gone bad. Wiring a new ignition coil is a job that can be done at home. It takes about 30 minutes to replace the ignition coil.

Open the battery compartment under the floorboard and remove the negative battery cable with a wrench.

Remove the center cover and disconnect the spark plug cover by hand.

Unplug the ignition coil's plastic wiring harness by hand.

Loosen and remove the coil jam nuts with the wrench and lift the old ignition coil out. Fasten the new ignition coil into place with the coil jam nuts.

Plug the ignition coil wiring harness back in, snap the spark plug wire back on and and close the center cover.

Replace the Geely's negative battery cable with the wrench.
