Toyota inserted a new mid-sized, front-driven sedan into its lineup in 1983 and named it the "Camry." The model became an immediate success. The 2006 Camry was a year away from a complete redesign. This model of the Camry had sweeping headlights and more aggressive body lines than past models; it also had small chrome accents placed around the body, including a chrome fixture on the trunk lid -- this fixture covered the license plate light, and it must be removed when replacing the license plate bulb.

Instructions

    1

Open the Camry's trunk and remove the 15 screws holding the cover to the trunk lid, using a ratchet and socket, then pull the cover off.

    2

Remove the four screws holding the luggage compartment door garnish -- the trim piece above the license plate -- to the trunk lid. Pry the trim piece from the trunk, using a plastic trim stick (notice that the license plate light assembly remains attached to the trunk lid).

    3

Push the license plate light assembly toward the passenger's side of the Camry to unlock it, then pull it from the trunk lid.

    4

Turn the license plate light assembly over and locate the socket panel on its rear. Press the locking tabs on either side of the socket panel and pull the panel from the assembly.

    5

Grab the old bulb and pull it from the socket plate. Grab a new 2825 bulb with a clean, lint-free cloth and press it into the socket plate. Don't touch the bulb with your bare hands, as the oils from your hands may cause the bulb to burn out prematurely.

    6

Press the socket plate back onto the license plate light assembly. Insert the assembly into the trunk lid and slide it toward the driver's side to lock it into place.

    7

Set the luggage compartment door garnish back on the trunk and press it until its clips snap into place. Tighten the four retaining screws on the rear of the door garnish, using a ratchet and socket.

    8

Reinstall the trunk lid trim and tighten the 15 screws with a ratchet and socket. Close the trunk lid.
