The door panel on a 1994 Camry is secured to the door with a variety of fasteners, including steel screws, plastic clips and integrated hooks. The door panel must be removed in order to gain access to interior door components such as the power window motor, speaker and door locking mechanisms. This panel must be removed in a specific sequence to avoid damaging the door panel and door skeleton.

Removal

    1

    Insert a shop rag between the window crank, if equipped, and the door panel. Slide the rag back and forth while pulling up on it to dislodge the crank retaining clip. Pull the window crank off the window crank shaft.

    Pry the inside handle bezel away from the door handle with a flat-head screwdriver until it pops loose. Remove the courtesy light, if equipped, by prying it away from the door panel until it pops loose. Disconnect the courtesy lights electrical connector.

    Insert a flat-head screwdriver between the left edge of the door panel and the door skeleton. Pry the door panel away from the door until the left edge pops loose. Remove the screw caps in the door panel with a flat-head screwdriver.

    Remove the screws holding the door panel to the door with a metric nut driver. Insert the screwdriver between the door panel and the door skeleton, and pry the door panel away from the skeleton to dislodge any remaining clips. Grip the door panel with two hands and pull it up and away from the door to dislodge the integrated hooks. Disconnect any electrical connectors from the door panel, then remove the panel from the vehicle.

Installation

    Connect the electrical connectors to the door panel and align the integrated hooks on the door panel with the hook holes in the door skeleton. Press on the door panel to mate the door panel hooks with the door skeleton.

    Press in the center and around the circumference of the door panel to seat the plastic retaining clips. Install the screws holding the door panel to the door skeleton with a metric nut driver.

    Install the screw caps in the door by pressing them into position until they snap into place. Press on the left edge of the door panel to ensure the panel retainers are fully seated.

    Reconnect the courtesy lights electrical connector and set it into position on the door panel, then press on it until it snaps into place. Set the door handle bezel into place and press on it until it snaps into position.

    Set the window crank onto the window crank shaft, if equipped, in a 10 oclock position. Press on the window crank until it snaps into place on the window crank shaft. Open and close the door to verify the panel isnt loose. Test all of the door components to ensure they properly operate.
