Mazda created the Miata, also known as the MX5, as a nod to the old roadsters of the 1960s, such as the MG Midget and Triumph Spitfire. The small, yet nimble Miata scratches the itch of those who want the wind in their hair as they zoom along, thanks to a convertible top and power windows. However, there may be times when you need to drive the Miata in conditions prohibitive of using a wide-open cockpit. If your power window switch is on the fritz, such conditions can make driving the Miata undesirable at best.

Instructions

    1

Open the trunk. Disconnect the Miata's negative battery cable from the battery, using a battery wrench.

    2

Pry the window switch bezel gently from the center console, using a trim tool. Push the switch out of the bezel.

    3

Disconnect the old switch from the power window wiring harness. Set the old switch aside.

    4

Plug the new window switch into the power window wiring harness. Snap the new switch into the window switch bezel.

    5

Set the window switch bezel back into the center console. Push down on the bezel gently to lock it back in place.
