In 1983, Chevrolet released a new mid-sized S-10 Blazer, which the maker based off the one-year-old S-10 pickup. The 1995 model year brought about a redesign and a new name for the mid-sized SUV; Chevrolet dropped "S-10" from the Blazer's name and gave the SUV a more aerodynamic body. The 2000 Blazer came standard with variably intermittent wipers, so you can make minor adjustments to the period of time between swipes of the wipers. Replacing the windshield wiper blades requires the use of a jawed puller, as the wipers will become seized on their shaft over time.
Instructions
- 1
Place a piece of tape on the windshield, so it touches the rubber part of the blade. This allows you to align the new arm correctly.
2Pry the cover on the base of the wiper arm upward with a flat-head screwdriver --- this exposes the wiper arm-to-wiper motor shaft nut.
3Remove the wiper arm-to-wiper motor shaft nut, using a ratchet and socket. Position a small-jawed puller on the base of the wiper arm, so the claws wrap under the wiper arm and the puller's screw contacts the wiper motor shaft.
4Tighten the jawed puller's screw with a ratchet and socket until the wiper arm pops off the wiper motor shaft. Remove the jawed puller and lift the wiper arm from the wiper motor shaft.
5Remove the wiper blade from the old wiper arm, by pressing the locking tab on the plastic clip on the wiper blade's frame, and slide the blade from the arm. Position the wiper blade on the new arm with the rounded part of the plastic clip facing the hook on the end of the arm. Push the wiper blade toward the hook until the clip snaps into place.
6Set the wiper blade on the wiper motor output shaft, and move the arm until the rubber part of the wiper blade touches the top edge of the masking tape. Press down on the wiper to lock it onto the splines on the motor output shaft.
7Tighten the wiper arm-to-wiper motor shaft nut to 17 foot-pounds, using a torque wrench and socket. Press a new cover --- included with the new arm --- onto the base of the wiper arm. Remove the masking tape from the windshield.
