Many 1993 Chevrolet S10 trucks were ordered from the factory equipped with manual crank windows. This window style is popular with owners who want to save money on the vehicle purchase price. Some owners also order the manual crank option because of the increased reliability and cold-weather performance of manual crank windows over power windows. The window roller, also known as the window crank, is held in place by a small horseshoe-shaped clip that locks the window crank spindle inside the window crank.

Instructions

Removal

    1

Open the door and insert a flat-head screwdriver in between the window crank and the door.

    2

Pry the door panel away from the window crank to expose the retaining clip.

    3

Grip the retaining clip with a needle-nose pliers and pull the clip off of the spindle.

    4

Remove the window crank from the door.

Installation

    5

Install the clip onto the window crank so its barely engaged, but wont interfere with the installation of the crank.

    6

Position the crank on the spindle and push the crank down until its almost seated.

    7

Depress the locking clip with a flat-head screwdriver until it snaps into place, securing the window crank to the spindle.

    8

Press the door panel into the door frame until it snaps into place. Test the crank the ensure that it operates properly.
