The TM33 is a stock carburetor manufactured by Mikune, a Japanese company that makes carburetors, aerospace supplies and OEM equipment. The TM33 is made for the performance DR350 model four-stroke engine. It is commonly used in the Kawasaki KX, junior dragsters and older British twins. Gunk and other impurities can build up over time inside the Mikuni carburetor. Such buildup can cause the motor to respond poorly or even stall out. Cleaning the Mikuni carburetor will take a couple hours. The TM33 should be removed from the engine before cleaning begins. The process for removing the carburetor will vary with different motorcycles and different engines.

Instructions

    1

Unscrew the two top cover screws and remove the top cover and the top cover gasket.

    2

Unscrew the four screws holding the float bowl in place. Pull the retaining pin out that holds the floats in place and remove the floats.

    3

Spray the float bowl, the float and the top cover down good with spray carb cleaner to clean them.

    4

Remove the main jet and pilot jets with the screwdriver.

    5

Unfold a paper clip and use it to clean out the large jet holes on the Mikune. Also insert the clip into the tiny holes on the sides of the small port to unclog them. Spray the jets and ports down with carburetor cleaner.

    6

Screw the jets back into the carburetor by hand. Tighten them with the screwdriver.

    7

Replace the float, the float bowl, the top cover gasket and top cover.
