Nissan introduced the Altima to replace the Nissan Stanza. The 2000 Altima is equipped with a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder or 3.5-liter V-6 engine. The Altima is available with a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission. The Altimas door panels on either vehicle attach to the door with clips and screws. The Altima is fitted with either manual roll-up or power windows, but the process for removal of the panel basically is the same for either application.

Instructions

Removal

    1

Park the Altima on a level surface and set the parking brake. Remove the negative battery cable with a wrench.

    2

Remove the manual window handle by inserting a window handle tool between the handle and door panel. Use the tool to push the clip from the handle and remove the handle. Put the clip back in the groove in the handle. Remove the power-window switch panel by prying it up with a trim tool it looks like a miniature pry bar and disconnect the electrical connectors from the switch.

    3

Pry up the door handle trim with the trim tool. Pry up the plastic clips that look like buttons from the door. Remove the Phillips screws from the bottom of the door panel with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

    4

Lift up and out on the panel to remove it.

Installation

    5

Slide the panel over the top of the door. Match up the clips with the holes and push on the panel. Install the Phillips screws.

    6

Mount the door handle trim on the panel.

    7

Connect the electrical connectors to the window switch plate and push it into the door, or push the manual window handle onto the window crank. The clip snaps into place. Connect the battery cable.
