The "Change Oil" light on a 2005 Kia Sportage should not be confused with the red "Low Oil Pressure" light. The oil maintenance light indicates that 6,000 miles have elapsed since the last recommended oil change; it does not imply in any way that the engine has lost oil pressure or is exhibiting engine problems. The red "Low Oil Pressure" light, however, warns of a loss of oil pressure, which requires swift action by way of pulling to the side of the road and shutting off the engine at the earliest convenience to prevent engine damage.

Instructions

    1

Turn the key to the On position, with or without the engine running.

    2

Depress and hold the "Reset" button until the menu appears.

    3

Depress the "Trip" button as many times as necessary to scroll through the message board until the change oil message appears.

    4

Depress the "Reset" button until the "Change Oil" reminder resets to the next 6,000-mile period.
