The D16Z6 engine was used in Honda vehicles from 1992 to 1995, most notably in the Honda Civic and Honda del Sol. The cylinder head of the D16Z6 engine is located underneath several other engine components. If you wish to remove the head to repair or replace it, you will need to remove the intake and exhaust manifold, among other things. Although it may seem intimidating, it is a fairly simple process that a handy DIYer can complete in under an hour. Putting it back in is another story.

Instructions

    1

Open the hood of your Honda vehicle. Disconnect the battery from the vehicle with a socket wrench.

    2

Use a socket wrench to remove the bolts from the intake manifold in the engine compartment. Remove the intake manifold. Remove the bolts from the exhaust manifold. Remove the exhaust manifold as well.

    3

Disconnect the distributor cap wires with a socket wrench. Remove the distributor cap.

    4

Remove the timing belt cover bolts with a socket wrench. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry off the timing belt.

    5

Unbolt the hydraulic lines and remove the injector/sensor harness.

    6
